thumb_DSC_0077_1024On May 24, 2016, The Crossing Theatre Company, led by Artistic Director Maria Campbell and in conjunction with the Nature in the City festival hosted an evening of traditional singing, storytelling and discussion about the importance of water. Originally planned as a keynote address for Campbell, she decided that to take the opportunity to share the stage with close friends passionate about water.

After an introduction by Candace Savage, representing the host organization the Saskatoon Nature in the City Festival, Maria was joined onstage by Joseph Naytowhow, Glenda Abbott, Winona Wheeler, Isaac Murdoch, Christi Belcourt, Don Kossick and Marjorie Beaucage.

The evening performance followed a water ceremony conducted by Isaac Murdoch and Christi Belcourt at Gabriel Dumont Park. Approximately 60 people, including the Grade 8 Eco-Justice class from St. Edward’s School in Saskatoon participated.
